ShotMind: Find the shot you remember inside your own footage.
ShotMind splits local videos into shots, analyzes the clips you choose with cloud AI, and saves the results to a searchable library on your Mac. Describe a subject, action, lighting setup or camera movement to find a visual reference for your next edit or storyboard.
Make past footage useful before the next edit.
A reusable shot library for editors and creators who remember the image, but not the filename.
ShotMind suits editors and small studios collecting visual references from footage they already own. Choosing which shots to analyze keeps the library focused, and saved results remain searchable offline. The tradeoff is clear: new analysis sends selected clips to cloud AI and uses Points. Start with a small, non-sensitive collection and check matches against the original images. You need an Apple Silicon Mac with macOS 14 or later. This assessment uses official sources and maker imagery; OpenThis has not tested the desktop app's accuracy or performance.

- Select shots for analysis, then search the saved library — The official workflow covers import, automatic shot splitting, selected-clip analysis and descriptive search. The preview is the maker's demo image, not an OpenThis capture or hands-on test.
- Available for Apple Silicon Macs with macOS 14 or later — The official download resolves to version 0.2.64 and returned HTTP 200 on October 27. Windows is planned, not available. Installer availability does not establish installation or search reliability.
- Free local library with paid cloud analysis — The current USD catalog starts at $5 for 4,000 Points. Packs are one-time purchases and do not expire. Previously analyzed material remains searchable without further Points purchases.
- Selected clips leave the Mac for cloud AI analysis — Sihuo Studio says full source videos stay local, selected clips go to DashScope/Qwen, and temporary copies are removed after successful analysis. Results and the private search index are stored locally. These are the developer's disclosures, not an independent privacy audit.
- Check AI matches against the original footage — The maker documents imperfect shot boundaries and AI descriptions. ShotMind organizes footage; it does not replace an editor or supply stock footage. Exported library archives are not encrypted and omit original full videos.
- Sihuo Studio completed domain ownership proof — OpenThis's production DNS TXT verification succeeded on October 27, 2026 for this submission. Ownership applies to ShotMind only.
- Demo footage: Caminandes: Llamigos, CC BY 4.0 — The maker's interface image includes Caminandes: Llamigos by Blender Institute / Blender Foundation, directed by Pablo Vazquez. Film licensed under CC BY 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). The still appears within ShotMind's annotated demo; no endorsement is implied.
